Its nice to have a project go live after working on it for some time. We just hit 400 users and are really happy about that. Thanks for all the encouraging feedback.
There are a two tips that I feel like pointing out.
- If you want to go to the developers page without going to appview first, just click the icon of the app.
- If you press the number of uses you will see a list of which people currently use that app.
Again much thanks to Phill Ryu that was the blogger that picked us up =)

Chance Licence to License and it’ll be okay in my book.
And well deserved traffic at that. You guys have a great site and I’m telling everyone I know about it. Great job!
This is a nice website you put up for Mac users.
Makes it easier to keep track of all the cool apps out there.
Thank you.
Change chance to change and you’ll be okay in grammar’s book.
I discovered you through a RSS entry in TUAW. Nice site, I like it. Do you think you could add a fast way to add new version to an already present app? irssi is now at 0.8.10 but I don’t see a way to add this information except either by adding a comment (which I did) or submitting a new app. Thanks.
shout out from the ARS community! you are on the Infinite Loop Journal page.
the site rocks, glad to join up!
ok, after using this for a bit, im wondering were the suggestioon box is… these aren’t bugs per-se, just a few things that would enhance usability slightly. its a very lovely and wellthought out concept as it stands, congrats and accolades are due you both for all your work.
display customization options: - “compact” or “pretty” display option for main app pages. The current display on the app pages is very pretty, but so is the more compact version in “my profile”… It would be nice to be able to select which display type to use for both the main app pages and the profile page
feature creep: - “my grab bag” or a “this looks nifty!” wishlist-like thingy… to function much like “i use this”, except it acts as a way to keep a running list of apps that a registered user wishes to look into at a later time… now there is some potentially useful metadata surrounding the change from being on such a “research/check this out” list and then being either added to “i use this” or “i dont use this”… I think it would be valuable to try and track changes in a person’s profile after “adopting” a new app… a way to see how a person’s list of applications “evolves” over time… tracking changes based on new additions and the increase/decrease in the apps which have similar tags would be very interesting… if some one adds VLC, and then removes MPlayer, quicktime etc… you can show a “king of the heap” application.
“king of the heap” / similar apps. It would be nice to be able to see which apps are most popular, or most loved in a certain category. on the application description page, it would be cool to see small badges with used/loved counters for similar applications after the description, based on tag categories. sure fewer people use gImp compared to photoshop, but which one is loved more? maybe users of one or the other should check out the competition?!
loved badging on front page. maybe just like a heart meter (a la Zelda) but based on percentage of lovers to users… ?? maybe jsut a count.
profile history xml export.
it’d be cool to see profile evolution. a simple export of an xml of the profile would probably accomodate some third party dev of a profile evolution tool.
love what you’ve done, these are all just littel “extra’s” i wouldn’t fret over them. the site looks luscious as it is.
more thoughts and ramblings, yell at me to stop anytime here boys.
-Betafeedback tracker/bugtracker i definately would love an OFFICIAL place to leave feedback/ideas/feature requests/bugs (not that ive seen any bugs yet) some form of a bugtracker thing so tht these random thoughts could be sorted for you int a handy list that could be ignored with more ease. ;-) The blog commetns are nice, but, as a developer mysefl, it gets hard to keep all these things collated and prioritized nicely. you guys do nice stuff though, so whatever works for you.
category/tag Counting and badges the “hot” lists in the sidebars would be even more useful if they conveyed soem more info. a truly luscious way to approach that might involve little badged counters for users/lovers (in the app list) and perhaps also an “app count” for the tags. it would be nice to see HOW popular these items truly are.
category/tag browsing. this feature exists already, by clicking on the “tags” tab at the top, we can see the nice cloud of tags. but this isnt ALL the tags. it would be kind of cool to be able to see all of the tags being used. alternatively, a heirarchical listing of categories would be a nice option. a-la macupdate. im often not sure what im looking for, but know roughly where it might be… more roughly thatn hittin gone specific tag out of 75 of the more popular tags (if the obscure thing i was looking for was popular, id likely find it right away!)
Suggestion box is in about > contact > e-mail > suggestions.
=)
I say briefly: Best! Useful information. Good job guys.
